I’m Lorancis Cruz, Creative Director of HALA! Media.

In the Philippines, “HALA!” is an expression of surprise — something you say when you’re amazed, caught off guard, or in disbelief. It’s our version of “Wow.” And honestly, that feeling of surprise is exactly how this journey began for me.

There are three things that still amaze me to this day.

First, I never imagined I’d make it this far in the industry — 15 years and counting. I once thought I’d become a soldier, carrying a firearm. Instead, I found myself holding a camera — and since then, I’ve captured thousands of faces and countless stories. Life has a beautiful way of redirecting us.

Second, this career has allowed me to witness extraordinary moments up close. From documenting a real-time C-section procedure, to helping rescue a dog in floodwaters that reached half my body, to flying near a majestic volcano — storytelling has taken me to places and countries I never dreamed I’d see.

And third, I realized filming is about so much more than visuals. It’s about impact. It’s about telling the stories of people who are quietly making the world better in their own ways. When stories are told with heart and intention, they move people.

I’ve also been incredibly blessed with a team that shares the vision — a team that supports, challenges, reminds me to rest, and works tirelessly to ensure every project is meaningful and worth your time.
